About

Who I am.

Introduction

I have been privileged to have spent most of my life in the arts, working with artists and organizations that supported the visual, literary and performing arts as well as public art.

In New York City, Seattle and the Hudson River Valley, I have launched arts and art service organizations; initiated start-up cultural projects; stabilized mid-size organizations and anchor institutions; planned for and implemented capital projects; and guided organizations and communities in developing strategies for the future.

Of particular interest to me is the creation of partnerships between organizations and municipalities that involve the sharing of resources and the use of art and culture as the basis for economic development and the building of healthy and productive relationships among different facets of a community.

I have served our field as a volunteer, staff member, board member, consultant, and an elected official. But no matter what position I have held, my personal mission has remained the same: to help arts and cultural organizations and communities thrive and grow.

Bio

I currently work as an arts and development consultant in the Hudson Valley. From 2009-2019, I served as the Neil C. Trager Director at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at the State University of New York at New Paltz. Prior to my appointment at The Dorsky, I was an arts and community development consultant specializing in start-up projects, strategic planning, and capital and institutional fund development. I have participated in the launch of several non-profit organizations and major program initiatives—including the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Visual Arts Initiative—and guided organizations through challenging periods of transition. I have also held executive leadership positions in both visual and performing arts organizations, serving as Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Henry Art Gallery at the University of Washington and as Managing Director of the Behnke Center for Contemporary Performance in Seattle, among others.
