Strategic and business planning

  • PR Project, Inc. - undertook an organizational assessment and developed a business plan to guide the future growth of this East Harlem grassroots media organization

  • Chester Arts Alive! - guided Chester Arts Alive!, a consortium of community arts organizations in Chester, PA, in the development of a programmatic and business plan for a community arts center

  • Jazzmobile - worked with LandAir Project Resources consulting firm to conduct an organizational assessment of this longstanding Harlem-based organization

  • National Jazz Museum in Harlem - worked with the LandAir Project Resources consulting firm to develop a five-year strategic plan


Fund Development and grantwriting

  • En Foco, Inc. - prepared successful grant applications to the National Endowment for the Arts, the Jerome Foundation, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and others

  • Hudson Hall at the Historic Hudson Opera House - prepared two successful New York State CFA grant applications, including a grant that was one of ten statewide Arts Impact $100,000 grants awarded in 2020

  • Dutchess County Arts Council - assisted in developing strategies to increase local giving

  • Chamber Dance Project - provided organizational development and fundraising counsel for this non-profit based in Westchester County

  • Center for Book Arts, Inc. - assisted in development of an Artist-in-Residence book arts program at The Door in New York City


Community Arts and master Planning

  • City of Newburgh, NY - Cultural Plan - organized and facilitated four forums on art and culture to assist in the development of a vision for the arts and the creation of the City’s Arts & Cultural Commission

  • Village of Ellenville, NY - Cultural Plan - organized and facilitated two forums for artists, businesses and civic leaders to develop Ellenville as an arts destination

  • City of Newburgh, NY - Sustainable Master Plan - served as outreach coordinator for a city-wide master planning process, including facilitating community meetings and interviewing stakeholders

  • City of Beacon, NY - Comprehensive Plan - served as Co-Chair of both the 2006 Comprehensive Plan Committee and the 2016 Comprehensive Plan Update Committees

Interim executive Management

  • Pratt Fine Arts Center - served as Interim Managing Director for a Seattle-based community non-profit with facilities for glass, sculpture, printmaking, metalsmithing, and more

  • Lower East Side Printshop - served as Administrative Director during an Executive Director search, which included streamlining existing programs and negotiating contracts with New York City agencies

Project management

  • Brooklyn Academy of Music | Artists in Action: BAM’s Visual Arts Initiative - served as Project Director for this 3-year experimental project featuring performance works-in-progress directed by visual artists presented at BAM and off-site museum locations

  • Sculpture Center, Inc. | Sculpture Center at Roosevelt Island - oversaw the design and development of an outdoor exhibition program for New York City’s Roosevelt Island

capital project management and fundraising

  • On the Boards - as Managing Director, oversaw a $4.2 million capital campaign to purchase and renovate a new, permanent home for this Seattle-based contemporary performing art center—now the Behnke Center for Contemporary Performance

organizational leadership

  • Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at the State University of New York at New Paltz - as the museum’s director for 10 years, oversaw the development and presentation of over 75 exhibitions, publication of over 40 scholarly catalogs, digitization of the permanent collections of The Dorsky and four Hudson Valley partners, development of a catalog distribution agreement with SUNY Press, and initiation of numerous regional partnerships

  • Henry Art Gallery, University of Washington - as Director of Curatorial Affairs and later Interim Director of External Affairs, oversaw the museum’s curatorial department and was one of four department heads providing management and oversight for museum operations

cultural tourism

  • Beacon Arts Community Association - as a founding board member and past President, was responsible for securing non-profit status and launching programs for this all-volunteer organization promoting arts and culture in the City of Beacon, NY

  • Queens Council for the Arts - developed “art maps” for both Long Island City and Flushing, Queens to promote the borough as a cultural destination

municipal leadership

  • City of Beacon, NY - following the completion of Beacon’s Comprehensive Planning process, served as a member of the City Council from 2008-2013 to ensure the adoption of comprehensive plan zoning
